History of the Loch Ness Monster<\/h2>\n

The Loch Ness Monster, also known as Nessie, definitely is one of the world\u2019s most famous cryptids. The origins of Nessie go way back. In fact, the first mention of the monster in the loch was in a book from the sixth century about the life of Saint Columbia. In the book, Columbia is told the story of the monster by locals of the loch and then encounters it. Fast forward a couple of centuries, and sightings of Nessie resurged in the later 19th century. Scotland was becoming a popular tourist destination by this point, thanks to the eloquent and romantic writings of Walter Scott and the patronage of Queen Victoria. The first photo of Nessie was taken in 1934, and it was revealed to be a fake, but the legend of Nessie still lives on to this day.<\/p>\n

The iconic Loch Ness is one of the biggest and deepest expanses of water in the\u00a0United Kingdom<\/a>.
