Day 1: Explore Modern Cairo<\/span><\/h2>\n

Upon arrival in Cairo, take the opportunity to travel to the Left Bank and enjoy a traditional Cairene breakfast that contains tasty feta cheese, tomatoes, falafel, and Ful medames, a fava bean dish. If you want to get a fabulous <\/span>bird\u2019s-eye view<\/span><\/a> of the city, walk up Cairo Tower. If you want to check out modern Cairo art, visit the Gezira Center for Modern Art, which displays various artworks by local artists.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Day 2: Egyptian Antiquities and Valley of the Kings<\/span><\/h2>\n

To dig into ancient Cairo history, you can visit the Step Pyramid, or Pyramid of Djoser, the first pyramid ever built! Once you\u2019ve stopped there, you can drive to Giza Plateau and visit Giza\u2019s Pyramids alongside the Sphinx. You will also want to pay a visit to the world\u2019s most extensive collection of Pharaonic antiquities at the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, where you can find Tutankhamun\u2019s tomb.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Then, visit Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church, which contains a 10-foot-deep crypt believed to be a resting place for Mary, Joseph, and infant Jesus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You can then see the massive Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan from the 14th century. This structure remains incomplete to this day, but the mosque is one of the largest in the world and is visually captivating. End your day with a visit to Al-Azhar Park, Cairo\u2019s greenest urban attraction. These 74 acres were transformed into a park in 2005, which is now listed as one of the world\u2019s 60 great public spaces by Project for Public Spaces.<\/span><\/p>\n
